York and Wallin are the resident gunsmiths at the West Midlands Shooting Ground.
York and Wallin were founded in 1976 by Reg York and Bob Wallin. Reg and Bob both served their apprenticeship at Edwin Chilton & Son gunsmiths of Wolverhampton. After 4 years they moved into a workshop in Bilbrook, Wolverhampton, with business expanding they employed 3 more lock and spring makers.
York and Wallin are traditional lock and spring makers with demands from the likes of Holland & Holland, Purdeys, Boss & Co, Greeners to name a few.
In 1981 Mark Wallin ~ Bobs son joined the business and began his apprenticeship. In 1988 Mark Curley joined the company to start his apprenticeship.
Mark Wallin took over the running of the company in 1998 when his father Bob sadly passed way.
In 1999 Jon Harris joined the company as a spring maker.
In May 2006 York & Wallin ~ Mark Wallin, Mark & Jon moved to set up their business at the West Midlands Shooting Ground at Hodnet and are undertaking all areas of gun repairs as well as continuing to make locks and springs for the trade.
